What a great day I had yesterday. It all started when Renee came to fill in at our branch because of someone's ineptitude. (see last post) She normally works at the Pemberton branch. Anyway, we worked together for 2 hours when this came up:
"My sister and I are going to Jester's Café tonight. Would you like to go, too?"
".....What?"
"We're going to Jester's if you want to come along."
"Uhh, yeah, okay. I got nothing going on tonight."
Man, she works fast. I then realized I was supposed to pick up Kate, 'cause I had something to discuss with her, so I asked if she could come, too. Renee didn't mind.
Kate just happened to come in and cash her check at Renee's window. Shockingly, they started conversing just like they were old friends. Amazing. She makes friends fast. I invited Kate at this point, and Kate wanted Dan to come too, because she'd promised to see him last night. Now we got a good size group of people coming.
So, I got out of work at 4, and we weren't meeting there until 8:30. That was a lot of time to sit around waiting. I listened to the radio for a while, watched The Simpsons. Finally, I made my way up to Bordentown, where I had to go to the bank. Stupid me forgot to take out any money. Zach had to ask me what was going on. I told him the situation. He told me I should have made an attempt to look up her skirt. Typical Zach... He also said that she invited Sarah to come with us, but that she probably wouldn't show up. Typical Sarah...
I went over to Boyd's to get Kate, and we walked down the street so we could talk. We were still mad early, so we kept walking and ended up back at Boyd's. Kate had to pee. On the way back, we met up with Dan, and we waited.
Embarrassing moment #1: Trying to get a table.
We had no idea how many people were coming. Myself, Kate and Dan, plus Renee, her sister, and maybe some of her other friends, and Sarah (possibly).
Waiter: "Welcome to Jester's. Just the three of you?"
Me: "No, actually... We're supposed to be meeting some people, but uhh... we don't know how many."
Kate: "Don't we have anyone's phone number?"
Me: "No, I've only known her for a few hours."
Waiter: "Do you have an estimate?"
Me: "No more than....8?"
Dan: "More than 3. Less than 30."
Me: "Yeah, that's vague enough."
So, we waited for about 20 minutes before Renee and her friend Roy showed up, at which point, she assumed that Dan and I were brothers. Tres amusant. We had a nice little dinner and chat. Then we left.
Embarrassing moment #2: Trying to give her my number.
When we went to leave, I thought it'd be real smooth to write my number on her hand. I'm old school like that. Turns out, there's no ink in that damn pen. Argh. We all had a good chuckle, and we ended up just switching cell phones and putting our numbers in. We are in the 21st Century, after all...
So, yeah, looks like I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. Go me!
